Look into his friendship with George Harrison for example. George only consciously surrounded himself with people who were spiritual or “got it”. It’s because all of these musicians at that level have a crazy amount of weirdness around them - like the most highly improbable experiences. They didn’t form these beliefs because they read it somewhere - they actually had mystical experiences that caused them to seek explanations. This is especially true for this generation of musician because LSD was so prominent and caused them to reflect on the very nature of reality. This is a good book about Dylan’s spirituality - Bob Dylan - A Spiritual Life. It takes into account his friendships with people who are on the same wavelength.
