It might be the can opener. Some are better than others: Better grip on the can rim, deeper piercing of the lid. Edited to add the name of the dang thing: It's an Ekco Miracle 885, which I don't think they make any more, and "vintage" ones on eBay are selling for US$20, f'pete's sake. Darn fine can opener though.
