only medical debt because when I wasnt stable I was just trying to figure out what was wrong with me and trying all sorts of medicines and tests that I found out later weren't always covered by insurance anyways (US). I have maybe $4k+ in medical debt, and another $200+ from my current psych's office because I needed to do a routine urinalysis and I currently dont have insurance. I used to have a bad spending problem until maybe 4 years ago. I still don't save money and my banks tells me that I spend about the same amount of money I deposit each month. Im much better these days about frivolous spending and budgeting, but I didn't really care before. I just got my first credit card at nearly 30 to build my credit, and I'm glad I didnt get approved for one sooner in life because now I'm diagnosed, medicated, and stable. credit cards are definitely predatory in nature so I can understand how easy it is to gk into so much debt with it I dont have cc debt but I do have budgeting tips! you can use something like this to track how you spend and to see where youre money is going (the one i have is a little different): https://a.co/d/0cCQUsiL I calculate in my notes app how much i have in my bank, how much my check will be, and what my expected expenses will be, leaving me with my total that I can carry to the next paycheck. it lets me plan for how much I can spend and if I have wiggle room to spend or save. another big one comes down to cutting out subscriptions, limited fun-spending, and eating in with meal planning and using up whats in your fridge before shopping again. last edit to add: if you need money in a pinch and dont want your use your credit card, you can use the app Earnin! I use it sometimes to pull money from my next check, but then when you get paid again Earnin will take that money back. its helpful if you accidentally over spend or if you dont get consistent paychecks
