I have these two monitors which I use. Originally I had the thunderbolt cord of my Amazon dock (linked in a different comment and blow) plugged into the device. But after some time, the cord would stop working with the USBC ports and the device would get super hot. It was very odd. I got one off of Amazon; specifically this one https://a.co/d/08QQfr8x For some reason when I connect the USBC cord to the dock, it doesn’t work. Any thoughts?

This entirely depends on your intention because there are several ways this can go. You just need a basic USB-C dock with a single basic HDMI port. Those are usually really cheap now. You need a more advanced Thunderbolt 4 or 5 dock that can also pass through video signals. This can mean several things... passing through the raw TB data stream over USB-C connections, or having internal adapters to pull out the USB-C to HDMI or DisplayPort. This is limited to how many video signals your dock can support AND how many video signals your Mac can support. This cannot ADD more monitors. Docks which you seem to have that use DisplayLink adapters to create new virtual software based displays. These actually add hardware that needs drivers. You really don't want to use these docks unless you absolutely have to. The most common use for DisplayLink docks is to get around the "one external display" limit that older M series MacBooks had. It successfully adds another monitor but really saps performance. So ideally, you would want to hit up Amazon (or wherever) and find a Thunderbolt 4 or 5 dock that supports multiple USB-C DisplayPort streams. They are tricky to find because your Mac has to support two monitors over one cable AND the dock has to split them up correctly into outputs. This has been a changing thing every couple models of MacBook now. This is the dock I found on Amazon that let me use my M1Pro MacBook Pro with two separate monitors over USBC to DisplayPort adapters. https://a.co/d/00XMgNIB
