My house gets very humid during the Spring and Summer. We had a mold/mildew issue so we needed to figure out how to mitigate the problem. I purchased two of this dehumidifier, I only had one for a while, and that also worked but I have a small house. On days when the house is humid, I simply roll them room to room for an hour or two each room. They are on wheels so it’s really easy. They are also very fast and efficient. They sound about like a window unit air conditioner, not “quiet” but not “LOUD”. I close doors on bedrooms and larger closets to speed up the process. There is a readout that tells you the “goal” (which you adjust to your preference) and the current level, and you can just turn it on to check if you aren’t sure if you need it that day. I usually set it for like 54. The bucket does need to be emptied and how often helps indicate how bad the problem is that day, but normally it’s fine for several hours and the machine will simply cut off when it’s full, so it’s fine to turn it on and leave. It won’t overflow. They have solved the issue and given me peace of mind and are pretty affordable as far as options go. It’s not automatic like the other poster, but I don’t have a basement and (at least when I was problem solving) the automatic solutions all involved altering a window to drain (into the backyard which was not helpful in mitigating humidity, lol) and/or machines that took up too much space. These fit in the utility closet.
