For most 5mm and 3mm leds around 200-500ohms should be good were it’s bright but not burning out your eyeballs to look at. Once you start to get close to 1,000 ohms it’s very dim unless you’re in a dark room. You can get 600 resistors of varying resistances for $5 on Amazon. So I would just order that and you can test different ones to get the brightness you want.
