I have no input on a cockpit, dimensions or layout but i can suggest an aluminum extrusion rig picture. I imagine you can make it at least cockpit themed with MFD's, stick/throttle, choice of seat, stickers, or maybe custom built panels since it sounds like you're handy. The benefit of aluminum extrusion profile rigs is that you can bolt on new equipment and adjust it pretty smoothly. They don't use hardware you likely have around the house, but you can buy bags of nuts and bolts of various lengths on Amazon. They look like this Picture My sim racing rig is extrusion, i put some no name Amazon castors with breaks on it so i can roll it around. It was like $500 with a seat on Amazon, here is an Amazon link to the one i bought (there's name brand suggestions on r/simracing). I also bolted a $20 cup holder to it and some dayton speakers that function like buttkickers. I think this would be an awesome solution that you can build onto fairly easily, it'll handle the weight and is adjustable so you can mount the stick in the middle between your legs or on an arm on the side. You can saddle panels on the frame or bolt them. I think you're idea is neat, upload pics when you go for it
