It sounds like you just need a lot more practice to get more comfortable with the vehicle's size and buttons/features. Thats normal as a new driver. You should never be on a curb (could damage your car/hurt someone). Im not sure what you mean by cruise control doesn't fully work... maybe look up some videos specific to your vehicle to see how to use it properly or to see what other features/buttons are for if you dont know(I had my car for 2 yrs before I found out it had heated side mirrors 🤦‍♀️). Practice using your turn signals when the car is parked so you get better at it and if it does go the other way, not going on the curb takes priority to switching the signal off. Always drive carefully and dont take unnecessary risks. It took a bit for me to get used to using the hand controls but now I'm very comfortable with it.
