Hi folks. This series was inspired by an offhand question during a D&D session about the patrons warlocks serve, and what it would be like to design a new one. That question became an obsession, and that obsession eventually became a book, because of course it did. So here’s The Wandsmith: the origin story of a D&D-style Patron, an Entity of Power who just so happened to have killed a god before reaching Level 1. Meet Ori Suba: Black, British, and a very fucking long way from home. I invite you to witness how he somehow becomes a Wandsmith, along with a whole lot more besides. Earthlings cannot awaken • Humans cannot evolve • Mortals cannot slay gods. Such truths as these shatter when Ori Suba escapes an infernal prison hidden halfway across Fate. To return home, Ori must battle monsters, master the arcane, and form dangerous alliances with supernatural beings. Through harrowing trials, his unique Affinity awakens, one potent enough to disrupt Fate’s delicate balance and usher in a new age. As an Irregular walking the Path, and an Entity of Power capable of granting patronage to warlocks, Ori must weigh his desires against the needs of his bonds and the man he must become.
