I'm still a beginner and have DJ'd in small backyards, living rooms, and garages for friends. I wanted something portable and for it to be powered by its own battery for a few hours. I heard the JBL party speakers could have latency issues due to its DSP, and they were much more expensive. The JBL party speakers will sound better for sure, but this speaker can still pump out good volume with decent bass for under $200. The only downside is there's no way to link two of these together, so you're stuck with using only one speaker. Rockville Rock Party 9 I can DJ for about 2 hours without any power source, which is great for most of my use cases. I'm only limited by my laptop battery, which isn't all that great. The speaker battery seems to last a while. For small backyards, I use a portable power supply like this Jackery Power Station Explorer 300. I plug in the speaker and laptop charger to it and it can last +4 hours and when it dies, I still have another 2 hours with the laptop battery for a total of +6 hours of DJ time.
