I think it's a fine experience as long as you don't need to return the mattress. I've never returned a mattress. I've bought these in a few different sizes over the last 13 years: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DKTFD2M7 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CKYYYYYF https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GTCL2FU 8 inches was fine for a twin mattress on a bendable (hospital type) frame, but insufficient for a full mattress on flat frame. 10 or more would be better. Maybe ignore that advice if you're skinny. Foam does compress and wear out over time. The mattresses are relatively cheap, so replacing them after several years isn't a big deal.
