I've tried using door wedges in hotel rooms. I have a door wedge with a loud built-in alarm. But they usually don't work for me because the floor inside the door is too smooth. I used to use a door wedge when I lived in an apartment complex. When I stay in hotels, I use a strap like this: https://www.amazon.com/Super-Grip-Lock-Deadbolt-Accessory/dp/B008YGQSOO This video shows how it works: https://youtu.be/rnsPlFDcxSM I prefer to bring two of these straps. Despite me always asking the hotel to NOT give us a room with an adjoining room, the still do sometimes. So I use one of these straps on the main door and one on the adjoining door. In a hotel, keep in mind that the in-room safe is not really safe. Employees have the administrator code to be able to open it. The also have the backup key to open it in case the batteries die inside the door. There are plenty of youtube videos showing how to hack hotel sales. In an AIRBNB, watch out for hidden cameras. There are videos that show how to look for hidden cameras. Even hotel rooms can sometimes have hidden cameras. Here is a report about it: https://youtu.be/IL3xwDPv3oA
