So I got some thin silicone “skins” or whatever you might call them that fit over the pads since I knew this would eventually happen too. Something like this one. The skins were cheap, easy to clean, comfortable enough, I don’t notice a difference in sound quality & they have prolonged the fake leather by ~2-3x. I’ve only now got the smallest bit of wear after almost 3 years of near daily use at work. The only issue is that my headphones are a very common model and finding ones that fit for more obscure models might be more difficult.
