Running Ethernet is totally worth it. Look into moca 2.0 if you have spots with coax. That can get you around the house perhaps. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P4JKQGK This is what I would mount outside. Being 2.4ghz - devices inside won't want to connect to it. When outside the 5ghz won't penetrate the walls well and it'll hook onto the 2.4ghz. It also pushes all the energy away from the house. You'll get 4x more power, because of the antenna design, than a normal AP.
