This page has pretty much most of the basics covered. Ive been thinking that I want to know more about how to optimize eating and training. To be honest, the specifics about nutrition are pretty easy. Cook most of your meals at home. Have some kind of vegetable and protein with each meal. Try to avoid processed foods and sugary drinks whenever possible. Training gets a little bit more complicated. As you train more, training tends to be more specific. Are you trying to be a better runner? Pfitzinger's Advanced Marathoning 4th edition is probably the gold standard. Want to be a good strength athlete? Scientific Principles of Strength Training, co-written when Juggernaut Training Systems and Renaissance Periodizations were still close partners, is pretty fantastic. If you want a more hybrid approach, Alex Viada has a book called The Hybrid Athlete, published back in 2015, well before the hype about "Hybrid training" was a thing. The only one I can find now is his newer book, The Ultimate Hybrid Athlete, which I personally haven't read, but I'd imagine it's just a revamped version of his old book. All three books also touch on the nutritional aspects of supporting training. But they're more geared towards performance.
