You don't. The job market is ruthless. No degree? Get out. There are good coders without degrees. But hiring managers they rather hire a bad coder with a degree (which is more justifiable) than getting sacked for making a bad hire attempting to find the “needle in haystack.” You are still asking the right question if you want to learn. Absolutely learn Python. Read Eric Matthes' Python Crash Course from start to finish. Become an expert in Python. If you will choose a degree your Python experience will vastly carry over, even if they don't do Python. If you will choose another language basic coding experience will facilitate everything. Who knows, you might even quit coding before fully committing while you still have nothing to lose ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
