If you have a average-sized suburban yard, they will 100% wander over to your neighbors' yards. Even something like this (which any/most chickens can and will 100% fly over given an ounce of motivation) might help discourage them from blatantly suicidal treeline or road dashes & will help (slightly) delay attacks of opportunity from ground-based predators, if you can swing it. I have something similar up, and it's given me enough time (when I was already outside) to see and stop a fox that was casing it for holes & for my dog to chase off another dog that came over to check out the chickens, but it wouldn't stop anything that had decided to go through & obvs is no deterrent for hawks. The main thing that it does is it allows me to easily introduce/guide them to new foraging areas rather than allowing them to completely destroy the shallow roots of a few favorite bushes and trees, but I or someone else is almost always outside when they're out in it & it always attaches to a door for their covered run so they can get back to it if they feel the want or need.
