I have an everything notebook that I carry everywhere. I use it to write notes, ideas, things to jot down in other notebooks under varying subjects. For this & my commonplace books I use my favorite notebooks. Their smart ring binders are wonderful! It’s like having a spiral bound notebook that opens & closes easily. I like it because it’s give me the freedom to insert or remove pages, move things around. I use sticky tabs if I need to do impromptu sections. Kokuyo’s paper quality is the best I’ve ever tried. I use it with a mechanical pencil / it erases cleanly and easily. With pens there is minimal bleed through.
