I use a hydrating butter lotion by Warren London, that can be purchased on Amazon (link provided). It has a really pleasant scent and is great as a leave in lotion, or even a detangler. My pom gets this lightly massaged into his coat after a bath, and then half way to the next scheduled bath. I started using this when his coat started feeling brittle and dry. We were having to use medicated shampoo as his coat was starting to shed in patches. His coat was once cut too short by a groomer (and the vet for neuter) and I suspect this combination contributed to some coarseness. The lotion really helps keep his coat soft and easier to manage between baths and he actually seems to love it - he comes excitedly to have it massages in. Make sure your pom is on a flea preventative, considering the situation you live.
