I have this stand: 110" x 47" (9' x 4') Vivere Double Cotton Hammock with Space Saving Steel Stand, Upgraded Polyester End Strings 450 lb Capacity - Premium Carry Bag Included - USA Grown Cotton (Tropical) I've napped in it but not tried to sleep a whole night. Might try that soon. My point to showing it is that it is technically portable but isn't super easy to break down. I don't clearly understand your comment about living out of a closet. If you have no room for a bed, even a stand might be too inconvenient to set up and take down everyday. I like the suggestion to anchor one end in the closet and the other in the room to maximize your available length (if you need to because the diagonal is unavailable). It is a great solution which allows you to store the hammock during the day by hanging it in the closet and the room is free for day use.

I just got one of these. It's comfortable and would probably fit an apartment balcony, but you should check the length of the stand. https://a.co/d/j1OFlP0 Vivere Double Cotton Hammock with Space Saving Steel Stand, Upgraded Polyester End Strings 450 lb Capacity - Premium Carry Bag Included - USA Grown Cotton (Tropical)
