Thank you! I've been converting VHS for years now and finally have the best setup after a lot of trial and error. If you're interested I've explained my process below. Step 1: Clean your VCR to get rid of all the years of filth that builds up on the playheads. It takes 5 minutes and you can watch a YouTube video if you need help. Step 2: Use a composite to HDMI upscaler. I don't think it actually "upscales". There are 480 lines of resolution on the tape and that's all you can get out of it. I don't care about the upscale part though becasue it captures all the data from the composite feed using its own chip. Giving you a clean feed to HDMI. Step 3: Then you just need a HDMI capture card. This is the one I have, but they've become super cheap. Step 4: Production stuff - Capture and edit at 60fps. Add a slight sharpen effect to your footage, but don't go crazy (just a little). A small amount of color correction goes a long way too. The auto white balance on camcorders is unpredictable. That's my favorite setup. People online have been debating the best VHS capture method for years. The correct answer, is always, whatever works best for you.
