That looks really good for a first go! Personally I really like Vallejo's flat and semi-gloss varnishes. You can thin them with water (best to use distilled water) and clean the airbrush with basic cleaners. I wouldn't recommend their gloss coat if you're trying to get a deep automotive finish, but they're good enough to protective coats too. For canopy masking, I find these silicone paint brushes extremely useful. Especially the blue ones with the metal tip on the opposite end. They're excellent for burnishing the tape into the fold of the canopy edge.
