I really don't understand why one might want 2 Gbps. I've got 10 Gbps. The main benefit of it is that everyone in the house (5 people in my case) can use the Internet at basically full speed without affecting anyone else in the house. But then your internet speed might be faster then the server you're actually downloading from But once you account for multiple connections (either from a single person or from multiple people) saturating any single connection is a non-issue. Also, hardware costs. A 2.5Gbit NIC isn't that expensive, but 10 Gbit? These days, 10 Gbps (as well as 25 Gbps and 40 Gbps) hardware has come down quite a bit over the years. E.g. you can get 10 Gbps NICs for less than $30: https://www.amazon.com/Network-82599EN-Compatible-Supports-X520-DA1/dp/B0DLVT7CYM and even less if you go for used.
