So before I got a car with Android Auto, what I did was use a laptop power/audio splitter. A single USB C that plugged into my phone that split into two. On for charging and one for audio. My phone was used as the screen. Maybe this set up will work for you? I did this with a Pixel 8 Pro. https://a.co/d/01bQtkfp The one I use has two USB-C so you'll need a USB-C to 3.5 mm converter. I think Belkin makes one with a 3.5 instead of the audio USB-C. You can then use, "Ok Google" as you normally use on your phone and the audio will route to the aux.
