I’ve used a grinder for multiple rescues over the years. Currently I use the Dremel Lite 7760 N/10 4V Li-Ion... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R9PNRBD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. I’ve used just a regular Dremel in the past but my current dogs didn’t like it even at the lowest speed; this model is quieter and they tolerate it better. I’m currently also using a diamond grinder instead of the sanding drums. Dremel 416HP Diamond-Coated... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DB6K8XQG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. I use kitty treats. You get them used to it gradually, first you show it to them and turn it on and give them a treat, then you touch their toenail with it turned off and give treats etc. Because it can burn if you hold it too long, I do one paw every day and just touch each nail for a couple of seconds. It’s part of our daily routine and only takes a couple of minutes to get both dogs. I did have one rescue who absolutely refused to let me hold her paws even for cheese, so I did wind up taking her to the vet to get her nails cut.
