Among the many races drawn to and inhabiting its 10,000+ stars, humanity is one of the most recent and longest anticipated additions. Inevitably, that drive into the stars led to the discovery of their own wormhole transit at the edge of the solar system, and from there they ran straight into the waiting arms of Bedlam's ancient multi-species intergalactic trade and defense alliance, known colloquially as the Alliant. Having been coerced to board the all female maximum-security galactic prison ship known as the Sheol in order to perform one vital repair, Vahkis Greye has since survived attempts on his life by marauding aliens, homicidal inmates, out-of-control robots, a malfunctioning AI, a brutally murderous gender-supremacist gang, and even his own government. He successfully stopped the dying ship from coming apart and destroying everyone on board, not to mention the star system around them, but that success only cleared the way for the next life-or-death crisis to take center stage. Everything had been going relatively well on Houska, homeworld of the parasitic eisheth species. A deal was struck with the Namaah matriarchs: One mysterious prisoner transfer, and a bit of... quid pro quo, from the Captain, in exchange for enough food stock to keep his people fed for a year. He'd agreed. Terms were met. Abductions were thwarted. Deliveries arrived on schedule. Things were looking up. Then the bloody Alliant showed up and ruined everything. Now, imprisoned, humiliated, and stripped of all his worldly possessions, Greye must find a way to escape from both his eisheth captors, and the encircling forces of the galactic military that has hunted him across the stars. Oh, and he'll also need to ensure that the last of the resupply still reaches the Sheol. And that they don't all get merked by an invading hostile species of exiled organ-harvesters. Or... blown to smithereens by the mystery bomber hiding somewhere on his ship. Or discovered by the incredibly advanced and dangerous species of semi-telepathic cat-rabbits whose VIP he is unknowingly holding in one of his medical cells. And he definitely, definitely has to avoid getting mind-broken and permanently tied to the bedposts of any of the hundreds of impossibly attractive eisheth women that live and work at the compound where he's being held. ...okay, yeah, some bad-endings are worse than others, but he does have other things he needs to do, and a lot of people counting on him.
