Sunflower lanyards can be purchased by literally anyone for £9 off Amazon. So no, I don't particularly give them much credence. A whole load of tossers bought them in order to avoid wearing masks during COVID, and I fully believe that plenty of self-diagnosed neurodiverse individuals probably buy them too. They don't prove a damn thing except that you have access to a tenner and an Amazon account and want special treatment. And even if the person wearing it is wearing it in good faith, not all hidden disabilities come with mobility impairments, so I wouldn't automatically assume a sunflower lanyard wearer needs my seat. If you need priority seating on public transport, perhaps get a blue badge. You know - the legally protected, doctor-certified mobility assistance scheme that already exists? It's much harder to get than £9 sunflower lanyard, but you'll probably see it gets you better results. If I sound bitter, it's because I am. There's already a scheme for this. There are so many legal protections and rights built into the blue badge system, I have no idea why someone who needs those protections and rights would be circumventing it - unless, of course, they already know they won't qualify.
