I got these velvet breakaway collars for my boy. His neck never gets irritated from them and the breakaway works well enough. Its come off when my dog rough houses with him sometimes. I will say that they get dirty from their oils kinda quick. For that reason I got 2 4-packs and rotate them when they start looking dingy. The only way I've found them to come really clean though is scrubbing them with dish soap and a tooth brush.
