I think for the first stab she’s going to have to lean her full body weight into it and will feel the orbital roof bone crunching, then there’s a sudden release of pressure as she breaks through, the needle sinks into brain with a dramatic squelch, and he’s subdued. She rolls off of him thinking it’s over. But he isn’t dying fast enough, and she’s bleeding from slash wounds from his sword. So she goes at it again, but once more, simply stabbing as hard as she can isn’t enough. I like the idea of her being hurt in the process too. Maybe she’s getting desperate now, trying to use a mallet to hammer the needle in but her hands are so shaky from the shock of the other injuries she’s sustained and the brutal cold that she hammers her own hand or something?

I've done that work myself, so I knew what I was looking for immediately when I read what the other person had written. Though doing some more searching, I think that they imaged the knitting needle have a sharper end.
