This fitting regulates the suction to the vac/skimmer. It's used with a cone adapter. The cone goes in the suction hole in the skimmer. The weir valve goes into the cone. It can be adjusted to let water into the skimmer but it reduces suction to the vac. I have cut a hole in the bottom of a skimmer basket so the weir fitting can plug into the cone adapter.
