As far as the hormonal acne as a side effect of quitting birth control—it will get better! This is so random but I will tell you one of the things that helped me the most was consuming Bigelow Mint Medley tea bags; like I would literally open up the bag and swallow the contents with some liquid lol. I will link the tea at the bottom of the post. Spearmint has anti-androgenic properties which you can research. I found those tea bags to work better than a tea with just spearmint at reducing oil production, as well as it worked much better when I consumed the leaves rather than just having the tea steeped as normal. I think it was a combo of the mint leaves used in that tea which made it work better. I was set on not using spironolactone or any more pharmaceuticals which interfere with hormones to reduce the acne during the discontinuation and those did the job. Yes, I chose to skip the Nizoral even though it was widely used on this sub because the ingredient list icked me out and I just knew I would hate putting it on my skin. Luckily, the H&S Bare fragrance free worked immediately in clearing my acne. I could tell the next morning that it had done the job because I had no new spots and my skin just looked better over all and not as oily. I would highly recommend it to you; it feels moisturizing in itself for my scalp, hair and acne prone areas and has minimal ingredients. It only feels drying to thin or super dry areas. I use VaniCream Gentle Facial Cleanser around my eyes *only* when it comes to my face; I do that first and then do the H&S so no residue sits on acne prone areas (I will add that to the post now as I forgot). I do not use any moisturizer on my face except for the lotion around my eyes. I will in the future probably try some more moisturizers for the face, but my skin is naturally oily, feels healthy and I’m happy with my skin at the moment and am still identifying triggers. Every moisturizer I’ve tried so far has triggered the FA on my acne prone areas. I tried using the lotion I listed everywhere (face, body) for 20 minutes or so before a shower, planning to do that 2x a week or something for added moisture, but I broke out everywhere within a couple hours and scrapped the idea lol. I did add what makeup I use now in the post a moment ago if you want to take a look at that!
