Is the gfci tripping or is the actual breaker tripping? If the gfci the issue is likely that the fridge is leaking to ground and the gfci is tripping, or there is a wiring issue. May need an electrician first and an appliance guy second. Way to test this is plug the fridge in direct and monitor for a while with the extender out and the range unplugged. You don’t have the issue when the extender is on because that extender is actually a three prong to two prong adapter and is disconnecting the ground! However beyond that I usually use a short 1 ft offset three prong extension for situations like this. At least 14awg but 12 awg wire if you can find them.
