Okay this isn't a masterpiece or anything but I did really quick 1:1 comparisons of the same colors in both the meeden soft oil pastels labeled hobby (I have the big box), and the meeden artist soft oil pastels. Then I did a quick sketch of an orange slice using each set. The meeden soft are round oil pastels (top orange slice) and I have more colors. The meeden artist soft are squared and is the bottom orange slice which I actually drew first. I'm a beginner with oil pastel so uh, don't take this as like, a master test or anything haha. But ultimately I didn't really notice a huge difference between the two in terms of how they handle, and they could very well be the exact same formula just in different shapes. I tried to get somewhat thick layering with both. for some reason this isn't working for me?? Edit: retrying the link: https://imgur.com/gallery/R9v3oAi if that doesn't work uh: https://imgur.com/a/1Ybnims The other set I tested is these to be clear. I personally really like the square shape because it's faster to get more line variation.
