It's definitely not going to be cheaper to build one, if anything it will be about the same price. You just missed some sweet prime day sales but if you live in the U.S. the 4th of July might have more sales. A stick like this is a great entry level stick: Drone 2 For a little over $30 dollars more you can get a similair stick with better components: Mayflash The lever alone is going to cost about $30 dollars by istself, and around another $30 for the Sanwa buttons so this is a very nice upgrade compared to the Drone 2 for a great price.

I ran into the same issue a couple years ago myself. I have bad wrists due to a car accident & years of gaming lol. I have a couple of questions first: Which system do you play on? Have you played with a fightstick? I got a fightstick a year ago & it kinda helped but I still had soreness in my left wrist. I picked up a cheap (priced) leverless & learning it made my wrist hurt at first but it's definitely a lot more ergonomical. I'll link my sticks at the bottom to see if any seem appealing. If you play PC, trying with a keyboard first. This helps to get a feel for leverless too. The reason I ask about systems is because the leverless I got works on Switch, PS4, PS3, & PC. The fightstick works on almost everything, even PS5. I hope this helped. https://a.co/d/02JSPcC8 https://a.co/d/0ecotfWP P. S. I'm gonna throw in another good starter stick that's a little cheaper but does the job. https://a.co/d/0iuaUq9I

You got some good options, I can tell you I have a Nacon Daija, it's a really good stick and I thought I'd like it because it's bigger but in retrospect I wish I had gotten something smaller. I still like it though. Not the best stick if you like K levers. I think this one can fit a collarless 309MJ Help Me lever, but outside of that it's mostly for Japanese levers. This drone 2 is a good entry level stick and is only $99.00. Probably limited on K levers on this one too though.
