Ah yeah that’s likely the problem, so what I would do is if there is enough space for the non cut part of the cord to bunch up a little in there i’d peel off some of the plastic on the ends to get more of the metal part out, normally (here) there’d be screws to fasten the cord so it touches the metal bits in the breaker but I can’t see any here. If there’s not enough space the easiest fix is to just buy a new on off breaker (or harvest one from another lamp if you’ve got one).
