I completely understand why you are concerned. Im going to give you some perspective so you can understand the overall concern better. Im not trying to diminish your concerns. Apnea does not bring an end overnight. The issue is cumulative and over time as it gets worse you run the risk of negative health impacts. Avoiding sleeping on your back or if you are really concerned sleeping on an incline like a recliner with a travel neck pillow to keep your head from drooping can help reduce the obstruction. Using a chin strap can help with snoring. I would impress upon your sleep doc that you had a cardiac event during delivery. It can help them to make sure they stay on top of it. My doc is a slacker and took forever to even tell me if I had apnea. Sounds like yours is better. It can take some time for the insurance approval to go through before the DME will call you to pick up the equipment. You can check with your insurance on whether its been submitted. You could get a rental in the meantime. You might discuss this with your doc. There are selfpay options that might even be cheaper than your insurance. Cpapninja has a Resmed 10 for $549. Ive purchased supplies from them. I prefer the 10 and wish I would have gone that route. As far as masks ask your doc if they have any samples you can try. Dont be afraid of the old school full face, after trying every style I find them more comfortable and less restrictive to airflow. The resmed F20 is a good option. https://www.cpapninja.com/products/resmed-airsense-10-autoset-cpap-with-humidair Lofta and Sleeplay are other options, however, they have no good sales right now. Probably waiting for prime days. Sometimes lofta will price match and take an additional 10% off. Also make sure the shipping times are fast enough. As far as stopping breathing, my perspective. I have really severe OSA and CSA. My AHI is 125 with oxygen drops to 45% untreated. I still have central events where I stop breathing for many minutes. I still wake up. We are working on getting a different machine for me. One option is to get a Wellue ring overnight monitor and have it alert you when your oxygen drops below 90% or whatever you set it to. It can also make your phone alarm so anyone else can hear it. https://www.amazon.com/Wellue-Monitor-Continuously-Tracking-Software/dp/B08VW3VQKW
