If you're on Android, you should simply buy the XM6. Full stop. Use LDAC and enjoy! If you're deep in the Apple ecosystem like I am (including APPG2, APPG3), it's a bit more complicated. I recently bought both the APMG2 and Sony WH-1000XM6 and I prefer the XM6 for general listening because after applying this custom EQ, I'm able to have the XM6 sound even airer than the APMG2. Sound Quality: The sound signature of the APMG2 provides a wider soundstage with clearer vocals than the APMG1 and also the XM6 with default EQ but the bass on both is still to high for real clarity. With the custom EQ, I can get the XM6 to sound lighter and airier. You can't do this on the APMG1 & G2. Here's an example of a song that is difficult for both the APMG2 and XM6 with default EQ to get "right" because of the original recording. The vocals are more intelligible using the custom EQ on the XM6. Comfort: XM6 is more comfortable due to the softer padding and lighter weight construction. Battery Life: On/Off button on the XM6 is a far better implementation than the stupid bra case. And honestly, this is what is going to be the deciding factor for me because for the last two days, I have been A-B testing the APMG2 and XM6 and even with the low power mode in the bra case, the APMG2 battery was fully depleted after 2 days. The Sony is at around 70%!!! Apple can easily add a hold to power on/off on the listening mode button but they refuse to out of laziness/stubbornness/stupidity. Cleaning: I'm a neat freak and I clean my earphones with isopropyl alcohol. Even my 2 year old APPG2 look new. I think I'll be able to clean the APM but I'm unsure about the XM6 because they feel more delicate. I'm not sure the vegan leather on the XM6 will hold up but the APM cups are more fabric-like. Advice: If you're in the Apple ecosystem and you can afford it, the APMG2 are "better" than the APMG1 but you can get 85%-90% of the listening experience from the APPG3 and save $300. I wouldn't buy the APMG2 until Apple addresses the condensation issue and adds an actual power button.
