Have you seen poly irrigation pipe? Even cheaper and seemingly just as good for your use. Or maybe even better yet, 1/2" drip line that you just punch 1/4" fittings into the wall for nozzles. Way cheaper and easier than needing actual threaded fittings with PEX.
