Would love to see something for as low as 40 though. i dont see anything beating the price This is AX3000 for around $40, which is even cheaper than S1 Lite https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F5P8KHMZ/ref=dp_cr_wdg_tit_rfb . But that S1 Lite is AX1500, so you can go even lower than that if AX1500 is enough. For example here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CLR13PVQ?ref=emc_p_m_5_i_atc . But if you really want it cheap, you can go as low as around $20: https://www.amazon.com/U-SPEED-Wireless-Internet-Beamforming-Parental/dp/B0D969TJSW/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3O9LS0HLOT35M&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.uUyybpDjD0XPI-UMCqwGQygw-TblHyD0xLgOaPYMkTsIpTKoUGuj3GAB1pDSQikgEAlmGz9JVVKC_ulNvoC89-Q2Fot0DNmkG6ySb_o6uR5slQCa7qkbwvJARszjOllkREh4MqhN-DDD-55u7Vd7a0OO9r3KhGqvgu15S89yDPQcMVsv1a3iMbR1RIGdTPkC1HVMnTr2LuSZlPqA-aRUetvmLZQ-xAgFfHvtwsf2BhA.41t_xQiUsUFK5zrnJlpSqSu4IfLD4aM4tgzcCSJ8lg4&dib_tag=se&keywords=wifi+6&qid=1781660303&sprefix=wifi+%2Caps%2C272&sr=8-4 . You can even get a name brand (Linksys) that is still better than S1 Lite (AX1800 vs AX1500), cheaper than S1 Lite : https://www.amazon.com/Linksys-MR7350-Mesh-W-Renewed/dp/B08S7JTGSM/ref=sr_1_16?crid=11MOXZ1FUJZMN&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.U6a7uc48me2kAldiBZsxYCURUKrW4atsiwZjxHu_MnY89VJACU3vvPEqVUl7H_QmkNS2BqmN2wWC494o-tONSnDOsvB47YBQ2ZcfI8xX-YAgBYvZrR2irXpzq_xEHzltzOIn5LMvKf0tnZ0cS8nr2y9YLQrkloaPN3Cpqx12cYwixZ2FiDwYJfrE-OAYtC6vQMD16TC4Xl8z--R9Qw2NvWxsm11dyRQZ9395Pb7NqmE.9XImlJTaOAqEsNXuj4KC_GkJ0HsHtU7V3d6frstfUao&dib_tag=se&keywords=wifi+6+router&qid=1781660464&refinements=p_36%3A-4900&rnid=386442011&sprefix=wifi+6+rout%2Caps%2C275&sr=8-16 . So apples to apples you can get better than S1 ($80 for AX3000) for around $40, and you can get better than S1 Lite ($50 AX1500) for around $35 ($20 if you are really pushing it).

If you're having issues using wired through ALVR as well as Link I'm betting your issue is a poor quality cable and/or using a USB port that isn't USB 3.2. Running tethered will ALWAYS be faster than wireless with less latency, but if your port is USB 2.0 or a USB 3.0 but running in 2.0 mode it's because your cable sucks. Trust me, I've been building and selling PCs for almost 3 decades now. The violent majority of USB cables are pure garbage and will make even your red USB ports drop to USB 2.0. Try this: https://a.co/d/0gEY0r8J I have two of these and have no issues connecting at 2.5-2.9 gigabits per second, which is WAY faster than even the Quest 3 can support, let alone the Quest 2. This cable also has the benefit of sideloaded power so you can charge while playing as long as you have a PD charger. (The one that came with your Quest is garbage, but better than the measly power your PC will put out.) If you want to get a battery pack and go wireless you don't need a fancy high end router as the Q2 doesn't support 6e, but you will want a dedicated Wi-Fi 6 one connected directly to your PC, and they're pretty cheap. https://a.co/d/07P8Z67q Good luck! 👍

That's just plain false. Running tethered through a USB cable is always faster than Wi-Fi 6, but you have to make sure it's through a USB 3.2 port and using a quality cable. The Q2 also only supports Wi-Fi 6, not 6e so he'll be competing with anything else in the house that uses Wi-Fi as well. My guess is he's using a bad port and/or cable. Even with a dedicated router in the same room he'll cap out around 800mbit wirelessly, and obviously drop off from there if the router isn't in the same room and/or there's anything else in the house on Wi-Fi (VERY likely). Whereas being tethered the Q2 supports up to USB 3.2 gen2, which should easily hit 2-2.5 GIGAbit with a quality cable plugged into the right USB port, and pretty much any motherboard from the last 8 years has at least one. Then if you DO want to sidestep Link/Airlink ALVR supports everything VD does and more while being free and open source. It supports double the bitrate as well as a wired connection. VD hasn't been the best solution for quite a while but people still praise it because they're used to it. A quality cable costs less than VD's $25 asking price ( https://a.co/d/0hZRLvAM ), and you could get a dedicated local Wi-Fi 6 router for $20-$30 if their PC is already using Wi-Fi for Internet. ( https://a.co/d/06fePfiE ) BOTH options will work with ALVR that's FREE. I tire of seeing everyone recommending Virtual Desktop that's $25, without including the fact that ALVR does all VD does and more but for free, or the fact that VD also needs a fat Wi-Fi connection as well.
