I am a mother of an adult autistic son 55 years old. He was born in 1970 before anything was known about autism. I navigated the public school system and every challenge we faced without any books or other guidelines other than library. That was my best source. Last year I wrote and published our story of our life as a family raising him from the day he was born up until today where he lives in a supported living program close to me. I think anyone who has an autistic child would benefit greatly by reading my story.
