Like I often post: I strongly suggest people try out OTC levocetirizine, the generic of Xyzal. It's about twice as effective as loratidine (generic of Claritin), which means you can get twice the relief in the same dose, or the same relief in half the dose with half the side effects. I usually take half of a pill before bed and I don't have to deal with the sneezing, runny nose, or eye irritation the next day. I never really took Claritin because it made me tired, but I can take a half pill of levocetirizine without noticing anything. Example of 80 generic pills for $6.49 on Amazon.
