It is not. It will not play very well, and it will not sound good, it will be a frustrating experience to learn on. If it's online, Musician's Friend has a Fender Squire starter kit with a Fender frontman amp for $299 - it's 2X+ as much, but more than 2X more playable and useable. I did also just see that Walmart of all places has the same starter kit but the red one they have on sale for $259 and the Surf Green one is only $238. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Fender-Squier-Stratocaster-Surf-Green-w-Frontman-10G-Amplifier/19863867681 If you can shop retail, go to Guitar Center, they have a lot of used equipment and access to any used stuff basically from any of their stores. It's a bit hit and miss store to store, but they should be helpful, find you something good, and make sure it leaves set up and ready to play for you. Even if you don't buy anything from them you can get a sense of what's out there used in your price target and if it would appeal to your budding rock god or not. 😄 That surf green walmart deal is kind of great the more I look at it. It's just $60 off the $300 package - nothing 'different' about that one, I think just surf green isn't as popular these days maybe?
