I use and recommend a lamp like this one. (Obviously you should choose your own brand and retailer.) I also have a booklight, which has been useful for crafting on the go, but it doesn't compare in brightness (or usefulness) to my floor lamp. I have very poor vision, as in, even specialty eyeglass lenses are no longer able to fully correct my vision, but I seldom need the magnifier, except with darker colors. The brightness of the light is what makes a real difference for me.
