THIS is that one log split up. 12 semi-uniform pieces, one stray. I used the 4 in the smoke, the rest get stored in a large ziplock to keep them fresh. The box usually lasts me months, but I have been a 'rib factory' lately, doing 4 cooks a week. They label the chunks in 'Cubic inches' and not 'cubic feet' like these. Good reason: the chunks cost a lot more. At least at my WalMart. YMMV. Previous link was $13.32 per cubic foot of Hickory logs. ($19.97 for 1.5CF) 500 cu in of chunks, $8.97. $30.93 PER CUBIC FOOT! per the ad. : https://www.walmart.com/ip/Western-500-Cubic-inch-Hickory-BBQ-Cooking-Wood-Chunks-1-Box/1561876060 And there is more bark IMO in the chunks. and they dont have the *FRESH* hickory smell like the spit log. So its a combination of less than half the cost, better product (IMHO) and I have a hatchet. 😄

Hickory and pecan 50/50 it seems to work well with most any meats; ribs, shoulder, brisket, etc. I have tried some mesquite with chicken but usually go back to the first two. These are what I usually order. https://www.walmart.com/ip/3636835023?sid=1a4f41ef-6065-401b-9f8f-62d383ba2001 https://www.walmart.com/ip/1561876060?sid=c857b579-e6bf-4abf-a7c5-059f5afba7e4
