lol I just posted in r/ipodclassic about picking up a 7th gen for $20 and getting a borked nugget with a fried logic board. Nice find! Getting into the aluminum body ones is annoying the first time you do it but I’ve found that steel paint palette knives work very well for an initial entry tool. They’re ground smooth without the rough edges on the standard pry tools that is typically recommended and they’re considerably thinner. They fit right in the gap between the face/back plates enough to push down and release the tabs, then use a more sturdy pry tool to gently pull up the faceplate. Bonus is they also have handles which helps prevent slicing your fingers open. Just don’t angle the tools back and fourth, keep them going straight down into the backplate so you don’t risk bending it.
