I didn't dive into it that far. I'm much more a mechanical guy than electrical, so printing a reduction drivetrain using the existing electrical systems was more intuitive to me than messing with a $99 servo motor and controller kit with zero instructions. I can tell you that the throttle is not a potentiometer. I think it's a hall effect type device because it only turns 1/4 turn, and there's 6 wires going to it instead of 3.
