If you have the budget, a gloss sign enamel will cover in two coats but three is better. Use the recommended thinner (turpentine or their proprietary) sparingly if necessary and pick a warm day but not in the sun. Paint quickly so it has a chance to flow out and not leave a brushed texture. Ideally, you remove the door, board up the opening and paint it in the garage or somewhere indoors on a saw horse and leave it off the hinges for at least three overnight dry times and a minimum 12 hrs between coats.One Shot Bright Red quart
