I just started my X2D journey in CO as well. I stumbled upon these amazon freezer bags that fit the spools well and have been doing a good job at keeping out additional moisture when I throw a desiccant bag in there with the spools. So far with 100+ hours of printing PLA and PETG I've had a small amount of stringing, but it's all been good enough quality for my functional pieces.

Easy. Good filament storage options are always a useful thing to consider. Improper filament storage can most often create subpar results and massive frustration. An inexpensive gift would be gallon sized freezer bags and a bunch of desiccant packets. Toss in a couple of packets and press out as much air as you can before sealing it, keeps the filament from absorbing moisture that can create printing issues. Both items together is around $25. Something a little more expensive would be a filament dryer. I have a Sunlu dryer, use it religiously with my more expensive filaments before they go into the freezer bags. Also helps keep filament dry during a lengthy print, especially if you cannot escape a humid environment. A final addition to this particular list would be a vacuum sealer (example, my sealer is no longer being made), this is the most effective way to keep occasionally used filament spools fresh so they print well. The bags are thicker than the freezer bags and, IMHO, keeps my expensive filaments (carbon fiber, wood filled, nylon, PETG) in excellent condition. I have a roll of wood PLA from 2019 that goes alternately between a freezer bag and then the dryer anytime I need to reprint a particular file, still prints like it did on day one. The bags become a little expensive but can be reused if you trim them carefully. I used the desiccant packets with the vacuum sealed bags as well.
