In the manual it does say that it supports both NVMe and Sata SSDs on the M.2 slot, which is odd. But one thing that may be happening is that the SSD is too new to be recognized. I would probably try a SATA M.2 like this one. To make the new drive to be recognized you may need a BIOS update, but in a laptop that old, I don't know if it will be available. The last one available is 2019/06/04. Also, make sure the M.2 slot is explicitly enabled and set to PCIe Mode instead of Auto or SATA Also, you apparently still have the old SSD attached to the machine, and that is the drive that may be at fault here. So, you must remove it for that SMART message to stop appearing.
