Reading the conversation with him owning records he’s never played and being new I’d do an LP70… rarely recommend a fixed setup but for him sounds right and he can upgrade the stylus later to something better… that said he’d better get some cleaning supplies as well (even new records are filthy) but here is a $249 solution to your ask https://amzn.to/43GiNqr
